Independent jewellery buying group THJ Group has recently celebrated its 40th anniversary with a special Gala Dinner and Annual Buying Event, bringing together members and suppliers from across the UK jewellery industry.

Founded in 1986, THJ Group marked four decades in business with a special Gala Dinner and buying event in Birmingham. Members and suppliers came together for an evening of fine food, live music and dancing, while providing an opportunity to strengthen the business relationships that have developed within the group over the past 40 years.

The party celebrations were followed with THJ’s Annual Buying Event. Every year, members and suppliers come together to discover new product opportunities and network with fellow members of the trade. Vice Chairman Adam Dubberley of Ashby Jewellers said; “It’s one of the highlights of the year getting to see so many key suppliers and new products in one day, as well as catching up with friends and colleagues, which never fails to show what our group is really about”

 

 

THJ is an independent jewellery buying group comprising of like-minded retail jewellers with established stores throughout the United Kingdom. Founded in 1986 and currently chaired by Harvey Morgan of Harveys the Jewellers in Manchester, the group negotiates preferential terms and discounts with an extensive portfolio of jewellery brands and manufacturers.

Importantly, THJ members retain complete autonomy over the running of their businesses, with no central buying and no central invoicing, allowing each retailer to continue operating independently, while benefiting from the collective economies of scale that the group provides.

This special 40th anniversary provides an opportunity not only to reflect on THJ’s history, but also to recognise the long-standing relationships between its members and suppliers that have contributed to the group’s ongoing success.
